Coventry Pride 2019 has been awarded a grant to fund an LGBT+ sports Day event during this years pride festival.
Coventry Pride received a Magic Little Grant through the partnership between Localgiving and the Postcode Community Trust. The Postcode Community Trust is a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.
Localgiving is the UK’s leading membership and support network for local charities and communitygroups. Our LGBT+ Sports Day project project received £500.
With mental and physical health often worse for many people identifying as LGBT+ Coventry Pride wanted to provide a safe space during the pride weekend for people to be active. On Sunday 9th of June the Cathedral ruins will play host to a wide range of fun sports activities, something for everyone to take part in regardless of ability. All free, so pop along to enjoy what you like.
Paul Desson-Baxter, Chair of Coventry Pride commented:
“With Coventry being European City of Sport 2019 we wanted to offer an event to highlight how taking part in sport can improve everyone’s physical and mental health. In our community it is a sad fact that many people feel unable to take part in sport because of fear of discrimination for being who they are. We’re so grateful to receive this Magic Little Grant from the Postcode Community Trust, it will make a significant impact for people within our community”
