Everyone has been invited along to join in with this year’s event, which is going ahead on Saturday, June 9 and Sunday, June 10 in University Square.
The theme for this year’s pride festival is #BeYou – inviting all communities in Coventry and beyond to come together and celebrate diversity in all things, promote inclusivity and break down barriers which may exist.
Trish Willetts, Coventry BID director, said that Coventry Pride was an important event and she was thrilled to be supporting it for five years.
“We are so pleased that we can make a firm commitment to support Coventry Pride for the next five years now that Coventry BID has another term of office,” she said.
“Coventry Pride is a registered charity and each year, it is free for all to enter and we want to keep it that way, so we of course needed to show our support.
“Since it started in 2015, Pride has really increased in popularity in Coventry and we are honoured to be a small part of that and continue to watch it go from strength to strength over the next five years.
“We would urge everyone to join in with this community event, celebrate diversity and remember to #BeYou.”
Coventry BID is a sponsor along with the University of Warwick, Coventry University and Coventry Building Society.
A whole host of talented acts will perform across three stages this year – the Phoenix Stage, the 3 Spires Stage and the Lady Go-Diva Stage.
Those performing include X-Factor stars Lloyd Daniels and Freddy Parker, Nicki French, Feryl, UnScripted, Forte Gospel Choir, Aura-jay, Christopher Haul, Angie Brown, Dorian Wilde and many more.
On June 9, Coventry Pride will also be hosting a parade through the city centre, starting at the Coventry Cathedral Ruins at 10am.
Paul Desson-Baxter, chair of Coventry Pride, said: “The Coventry Pride Trustees are very pleased that Coventry BID is not only supporting this year’s event, but over the next few years as well.
“As a charity, it is important that we forge these important partnerships with businesses to make sure that our event remains free. This partnership is a great example of how our LGBT+ community is reaching out to all community of Coventry for a better future.
“The organisation for this year’s Coventry Pride is in full swing and we have so much going on over the weekend and everyone is welcome to join in.
“Come along, enjoy all of the acts and activities and remember to just #BeYou.”
