Coventry Pride returns on 9-10 June at University Square opposite Coventry Cathedral and remains free for all because of the support of four major sponsors.
Main sponsors for 2018 are once again Coventry University and University of Warwick together with the Coventry Business Improvement District. In 2018 Coventry Building Society had joined the organisations that help to fund the free lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT+) summer festival.
Coventry Pride is a charity entirely run and managed by volunteers so the funding that our main sponsors provide goes on delivering a free pride weekend for everyone across Coventry and beyond to enjoy.
Paul Desson-Baxter, Chair of Coventry Pride commented: “Without the support of our main sponsors we couldn’t provide a free pride festival to the people of Coventry. These wonderful organisations recognise that the pride movement plays a vital roll in our city promoting equality, diversity and fighting discrimination in all its forms. They are helping us to be visible to everyone across Coventry and allowing everyone to access our family friendly community event”
The theme for this years festival is Be You, encouraging everyone to celebrate diversity in all its forms, come together as one and share the wonderful city we all live in without fear of discrimination.
Paul added, “Regardless of sexual orientation, we invite everyone from all corners of our great city to be themselves. The funding that our main sponsors have provided is allowing us to grow and offer something for everyone to enjoy.”
Coventry Pride will be holding a walking parade on the morning of Saturday 9 June through Coventry city centre which will launch our weekend in University Square featuring live music, entertainment and community information in and around The Herbert Art Gallery. Other events will include a family fun fair in Broadgate and a Art Show in The CET building which launches in 1 June 2018.
